Walking Away From God – Part 2 of 2
Remember Romans 4:13 in Part 1? The blessing of Abraham – heir of the world. Abraham did not get that blessing from any works or the law. Abraham got that blessing because he just believed God.
Romans 4:13 KJV For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
And Galatians says – Galatians 3:29 KJV
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
When we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, in our heart, that he died on the cross and shed his blood to pay, once for all, the sin debt of mankind (including you & me) and we ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us and come into our heart and save us, we are saved. We tell others, God has written our name in The Book Of Life. God the Holy Spirit seals us – Ephesians 1:13 KJV “In whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise”
What if 5, 10 or 15 years down the road, a person decides to walk away from God, to live for themselves, to live in this world and get all they can? Is that person still saved? Does God erase their name from the Book Of Life because of something they did? Not hardly. No where does Paul tell us we can loose our salvation because of our works/deeds. We didn’t obtain salvation from our works and we can’t loose it based on our works.
So how do you explain it? Two words: Deception and Flesh. A person who walks away from God has decided to live for themselves, for their fleshly desires and for the things of this world.
They are carnal Christians. And as Paul says in Romans 14, they are weak in the faith. And our next post will cover this topic.
