Yesterday, I heard a well known preacher say something that shocked me. I thought, well how do you win the lost then? Do you tell people they have to get saved everyday? God’s word makes perfect sense. We do not understand everything and all the “layers” in God’s word but, the basic fundamentals of salvation are very clear. It is called the “milk” of the word.
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 KJV “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it , neither yet now are ye able.
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
There is no way I will argue with this preacher or anyone over scripture. God has shown me revelation comes from God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth. I would ask a couple questions:
1) Is salvation a free gift from God to all who believe on Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, yes or no?
2) When Jesus Christ died on the cross, shed his blood to make atonement for all of mankind’s sin, was that past, present and future sin? Yes or No.
3) Then because we were not even born when Jesus died and paid for mankind’s sin, does his death, burial and resurrection count for us to?
All of these questions have the same answer – YES. Then how can someone say they do not believe in once saved always saved? Our salvation is a free gift. Is it the word free or the word gift we need to define for them?
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Salvation is a gift, period. And anyone who believes the gospel – (see all of 1 Corinthians 15 ) is saved, period. The problem is people do not understand their 3-fold nature – their spirit man ( is made alive / quickened on salvation), their soul ( mind, will and emotions ) is saved from hell and their body is to be brought into subjection. People see their body still sins and think they loose their salvation. That is not what the scripture teaches.
Our flesh, our body was born “into” sin. That is like being born into your family. You can not do anything about that. You can not do anything about your flesh, your body wanting to sin. That’s why we needed a Saviour, Jesus. When you get saved, you still have your sinful body that wants to sin. And we struggle with sin once saved because our spirit man convicts us ( not condemns us ) and our soul ( mind, will and emotions ) knows we did something wrong “in the flesh”.
But there is coming a day when this sinful, corruptible body will be shed and we will get a new incorruptible body.
One of the reasons this blog exists is to help people see their physical fleshly body is not who they are. The body is only a temporary house. So let me again try to put this in picture form to help people understand this “milk” of the word.
Satan and his evil workers try to confuse and mess God’s people up. I call this head games. Even well intentioned Christians can be used by Satan by stirring up strife, look at Job’s 3 friends. Christians need to be rooted and grounded in truth, unshakeable. Do you realize the power you have from God?
Until next time.
