Generation Is A Time Slot
Psalm 102:18 KJV. “This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord .”
Notice the context of this verse is for people who are not even created yet. People, believers, have tried to figure out how long a generation is so they could figure out what Jesus said in
Matthew 24:34 KJV “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”
It is not so much, how long is a generation. But look at ” in that generation ” look at the generation as a whole. So put in today’s understanding, let’s use this example:
If we look at 100 years, those born from specific times fit into specific generations.
From 1900, 1910s, 1920s = Great Grandparents
1920s, 1930s, 1940s = Grandparents
1940s, 1950s, 1960s = Parents
1960s, 1970s, 1980s = Children
1980s, 1990s, 2000 = Grandchildren
This is just an example only. You could adjust the From years to fit your own family.
So in 100 years, you on average have 5 generations. When Jesus said in Luke 17:25 KJV. “But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.” Jesus was putting his suffering and rejection on a specific generation. Jesus was holding specific people (like our example above) accountable. Why? Remember when Jesus said,
Matthew 12:38-42 KJV. “Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
These are periods in time that God holds people accountable. In Luke 17:25 Jesus was rejected of that generation. Not all generations, but that generation. In 1 Peter 2:9 we see a chosen generation.
Explaining Jesus Christ is in all real believers has been a mystery throughout the ages of time. It wasn’t made known until a specific generation was born.
Colossians 1:25-29 KJV “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
To understand specifics in scripture, especially Bible Prophecy, look at generations. Look at what is attributed to specific generations.
