Did You Quit
Yes, even some Christians live a carnal ( fleshly, worldly) life.
It has been said, getting saved guarantees where you will spend eternity. Doing good works determines how you spend eternity. We don’t do good deeds to get to heaven, we do good deeds for rewards in heaven.
One of the hardest things for people to understand is how professing Christians can quit on Jesus and Christian living. I don’t understand that. Christians quit on God for lots of reasons but when you boil them all down, the common factor is sovereignty. Who has supreme power, authority, dominion and rule over everything including you?
How can someone who has truly found the truth, eternal life, Jesus Christ, how can they quit on that? How can they care more about planning their weekend then sharing the gospel with a lost person who is going to burn in hell for eternity?
God gave you life. What you do with that life is your choice. But know this, one day you will die in your body. Your spirit and soul will be released from your earthly body and you will stand before the one who gave you life and give an account for what you did with the life God gave you. This explains the parable Jesus spoke in Luke 19: 12-27.
Today, many Christians think going to church once a week is enough. When is the last time you actually explained the gospel of salvation to an unsaved person? Do you spend more time planning your weekend than planning how you can work for Jesus? 2 Timothy 2:4 KJV “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” Are you more concerned about things in your earthly life than things of God?
Paul experienced believers quitting. He wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4: 10 – 22. Look at what some of these “believers” did. Demas worked with Paul in the ministry and Demas “hath forsaken me” Paul said. Forsaken means quit, abandon, renounce, desert. Why did Demas do this? ” Having loved this present world”.
Paul lists a bunch of people who quit, left and even did evil towards Paul. These are believers. Paul never says they lost their salvation. Actually, when Paul was explaining how believers can be misled by “preachers” and believe false doctrines Paul said there are ” vessels of honour and vessels of dishonour” in 2 Timothy 2:17-20 KJV
“And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.”
Friends, if you are going to care more about who the next president is, or what color you are going to paint a room, or if you have enough money to buy a new car more than sharing the gospel of salvation with the lost or lending a helping hand to a person in need, what makes you any different than Demas?
