Why The Labourers Paid Same
We asked a few questions over the past couple if posts.
1 ~ We asked why would Job’s wife want Job to curse God when cursing God would not bring everything back ( Job 2: 9, 10 ).
2 ~ We also asked why did God tell his ” steward ” to call all the labourers and give them their hire starting with the last to be hired and why were they all paid the same amount? ( Matthew 20: 1-16 )
3 ~ Then in Luke 13:23 someone asks Jesus, Lord are there few that be saved? Jesus answer? Many are going to seek to enter (clearly referring to heaven because the question was are there few saved) but they will not be able to enter.
The answer to # 1 is easy and God answers it in the parable of the sower in Luke 8. Notice Jesus mentions the devil and the cares if this world.
Luke 8:9-15 KJV “And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
They on the rock are they , which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it , and bring forth fruit with patience.”
What about the labourers from ~ 2 ?
Consider this possibility. Matthew 20:1 starts with the kingdom of heaven is like – not it is but it is like. We say things like this when we compare things. Example: An ounce of gold is like having $ 1400. The gold is not dollars but it has a value equivalent to. So in Matthew 20 when Jesus speaks of the kingdom of heaven and the labourers it would be like saying the following:
God’s kingdom is made up of believers, labourers. These believers came into God’s kingdom at different times. Some came in when Jesus walked the earth, some 300 years later, others 600 & 900 years later. Some also came at the 11th hour, just before his return.
Those who came in at the 11th hour receive the same pay as those who came into the kingdom first. We are labourers together with God 1 Corinthians 3:9 KJV “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”
But we are also called stewards in 1 Corinthians so we have rewards as a steward as well.
And why those that be last shall be first? The last are the bride of Christ. The bride of Christ rules and reigns with Christ. But that is for another time.
And ~ 3 – The straight gate and the door of the Master’s house from Luke 13: 24 – 30. The Master of the house rises up and shuts the door. Just like Noah and the ark. Many will try to get in but there is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ, his blood on the cross and his resurrection. Only those truly saved God’s way will get into the Master’s house . Please click on our Menu and select How To Be Saved and send us a note if you like.
