Spirit, Soul and Body Parts Explained
Our body has parts, inward parts and outward parts. And each of our body parts have parts. So is it with our soul and spirit.
Our soul has parts:
And these parts have parts:
Emotions – characteristics of love, hate, anger, joy, etc.
Our will – what drives and motivates us
It is the soul that sins against God. You see, you could make a body and lay the body on the ground and the body will lay there as a body. The body does not do anything on its own, it has to be told what to do. What tells the body what to do? Your mind, your soul.
Our spirit also has parts. Our spirit is the spiritual us. Our spirit parts are our faith, our hope, our prayers, our praise and our reverence. None of the parts can we see with our earthly eyes yet we know our prayers are answered and our faith increases. We know our hope and praise to God makes a difference because we can sense or feel an internal building up. We get “pumped up”.
As we can not “see” our spirit parts but we know we have them and use them, so is walking or living in the spirit. We do not see things with our earthly eyes but we see in a spiritual way. That is what Paul describes we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face.
So we have a body made up of parts that can do nothing without a soul. The body needs a mind. Something to tell the body what to do. But God not only gave our body a mind, but God also gave us a free will to choose things. And God gave us emotions. These parts make up our soul and it is the soul that goes to heaven or hell.
Our spirit parts are dead unto God before we get saved. We have the parts but it is like they are dormant. We know we have spirit parts because we have life. We are breathing. Remember Genesis 2:7 KJV “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
God created man with 3 main parts and these 3 main parts are made up of more parts.
So our spirit hears the word of God and we believe God and a spirit part comes alive. We believe God. We have faith come alive. So another of our spirit parts come alive and we pray to God repenting of our sin and asking Jesus Christ to forgive us and save us. And God answers our prayer. So our spirit is “born again”.
When we, from our heart, believe God, repent and pray for God to save us, God gives us the Holy Ghost as Jesus promised in John 15, 16, 17. It is at the moment be believe and pray for salvation that our name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life in heaven. So when our earthly body dies and is buried, our soul and spirit go to heaven.
1 Peter 1:8-16 KJV “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
It is your soul that gets saved, not your body and not your spirit. Your spirit is revived, born again and that makes you alive unto God now. Now you can see spiritual things, spiritual answers, spiritually. And remember, spirit parts are not seen. Hebrews 11:1 KJV “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
So what about those that reject God, reject Jesus Christ and his blood payment for mankind’s sin? Those that do not believe God, their soul and their soul’s parts are rejecting God. Then their spirit stays dead to God, dormant so to say. Although they may be worshipping someone, if they rejected God and Jesus Christ, they are dead to God spiritually. When they die, because they rejected God and did not believe God sent Jesus to save us (John 3:16,17), their soul and their soul’s parts go to hell and eventually, God casts death and hell and those in hell into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14-15 KJV
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
So when it comes to you and your soul and your eternity, do you want to trust your eternal dwelling place to a professor? A priest? A Pastor? A family heritage? A religion? Or do you want to trust Almighty God who created you? Do you want to trust Jesus and God’s word or some other book?
The scriptures have passed the test of time for thousands of years unlike any other book. If you have a willing heart to trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and believe God, select from our Menu above How To Get Saved.

1 Corinthians 2:10 KJV “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
