What Do You Hear
We hear all kinds of sounds and words throughout the day. From the time we get up in the morning until the time we go to bed at night, we hear all kinds of words. How do you determine words of truth or lies or words of deception?
Some would say, look at the source. Okay, but you can’t just look at the source. You have to ask questions. Questions like, does this source have an axe to grind? Do they have a personal agenda? Is there some personal gain involved? Those answers only come from your investigating. You have to get involved to find the answers.
Some would say, look at their track record. Have their words and promises come to pass? This too requires you to research the promises to see if they did indeed come to pass.
Deception and deceit are hard to swallow. When promises have been made and later broken and made known it was deliberate, it hurts. One example. When people heard promises like, If you like your healthcare plan you can keep your healthcare plan.
So a promise was made under the assumption you could keep your plan and things would not change for you if you went along with the promise. But the particulars of the promise were never explained or exposed. Actually, Nancy Pelosi said we have to pass the bill so we can see what’s in the bill. What kind of leadership is that?
But what people thought to be true, based on words they heard, was later revealed to be deceit words. Why? Because people were told you can keep your plan. But they didn’t tell you –
~ You can keep your plan ~
● If your healthcare provider decides to keep your plan after the bill is passed
● If you are willing to pay 3 or 4 times as much for it as you pay now
● If you are willing to change doctors and select from a pool of doctors
So you ask yourself – what words did you hear to cause you to believe the promise? How did you determine if the promise was truthful?
The masking of truth goes all the way back to the garden when Satan made a promise to Eve. But what Satan did not explain to Eve was –
● He had no power or authority to make her like a god
● The death was not physical death but spiritual death and it would affect her relationship with God
● It would expose her to evil now
Even religious people and some religious organizations make promises. Often, people only hear what they want to hear. They don’t look at the source, the motives, the agenda, their long term plan and even where God and Jesus Christ come into the mix. That is how cults are started. People hear promises and they want to believe the promises but never look at the “ifs“. If you will do this or do that.
That is why Jesus explained in John 10 that his sheep, his flock, hear him. Oh we hear the world too but we are less likely to be deceived by the world because we hear and follow our Good Shepherd. Why?
We have considered the source, the word of God.
We see the track record with years of fulfilled promises and prophecy.
We know the agenda is good conquering evil.
We know the motive is love not personal gain.
John 3:16-18 KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Until next time.
