Look What God Has Done
Okay, so I know God’s ways are not man’s ways. So I decide to do things God’s way. And to the best I can understand, I do things God’s way. But nothing changes. Then a year goes by, nothing changes. Then two years go by. Still nothing changes. So I ask God why I do not see any changes. God tells me because we walk by faith, not by sight.
When we look at Abraham, raised and grew up with idol worshippers. Chaldees were noted for astrologers and soothsayers. But Genesis 12:4 tells us at 75 years old Abraham walked away from what he knew.
People talk about Abraham being 100 when Isaac was born and that is true. But God gives us a glimpse of Abraham’s life from the time Abraham left, at 75 years old, until Isaac was born when Abraham was 100.
No matter what Abraham did, God made him promises. God can not lie. God had to keep his promises to Abraham.
Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s house. Moses did not grow up knowing God. He asked God who he was in Exodus 3.
And Joseph, at 17 is sold as a slave to idol worshipping heathen, Genesis 37:2. Joseph goes to his brothers who were in Dothan. They sell Joseph and when Joseph is 30 years old he stands before Pharaoh, Genesis 41:46.
In 13 years, Joseph, who knew God, looses his family, is sold by his family into slavery, is hired by Potipher, put into prison for a crime he did not commit, then brought before Pharaoh.
We know Joseph is 30 when he is brought before Pharaoh and we know there was to be 7 years of plenty and then 7 years of famine. In Genesis 41:53 we are told the 7 years of plenty had ended. So Joseph is now 37 years old.
And in Genesis 45:6 we are told they were 2 years into the famine and had 5 years to go when Joseph and his family were reunited. So Joseph was 39 when he was reunited. For 22 years Joseph did not see or hear from his family.
There are 3 key times where changes occurred in Joseph ‘ s life: At 17 when he looses his family, at 30 years old when he stands before Pharaoh and at 39 when he is reunited with his family. Can you find key times in your life?
We may or may not agree with the way God worked with Joseph and everything Joseph had to go through, but we know God had to work inside of Joseph too. God took an arogant 17 year old and through heartache, suffering and pain taught him to be a servant and a leader. Joseph realized it when he told his brothers they meant it for evil but God meant it for good.
Our promises are “in Christ” as the bride of Christ, the church.
2 Corinthians 1:18-22 KJV “But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.
 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”
Until next time.
