Hurricane Irma

Many of our regular readers know we are located in Florida near The Villages. I thought I would take this time, while we have power, to update our readers.

Florida has a population of about 18 million people. With the uncertainty of Hurricane Irma, people evacuated from south east Florida only to discover later, the storm is targeted in the location they evacuated to.

Three people in the Florida Keys have died according to news reports. Signs are up for looters that say, “You loot, we shoot”. Irma will impact the entire state due to her size. Tornadoes have popped up in the squall areas. The reason the right side of a hurricane is the worst is because the winds go counter-clockwise causing tornadoes with heavy rain and storm surge.

Florida is swampy so there is fuel on land and water for hurricanes and with a sandy ground, we do not hold flood waters like Houston. Additionally, Florida’s infrastructure is designed with hurricanes in mind and drainage is factored in.

All local television stations interrupt programming and go 24/7 hurricane coverage and point out where flooding and tornadoes are, warning people. I remember during Hurricane Frances our local newsman said a tornado was spotted on a specific road which was located behind us. We went into our home shelter and we heard the tornado behind us. I am grateful to the newsman for his report because we were able to go into our shelter.

I have lived all over Florida for the past 30 years. I have experienced more hurricanes living “inland” than living on the coastline. Maybe it is time to move to the coast again. Most of Florida is under a tornado watch and warning.

Irma is suppose to hit our area overnight tonight but tornadoes are an all day and night possibility. Current projections show Cape Coral / Ft Myers to take a direct hit, then Tampa. We’ve heard a crane in Miami is dangling from a building and there is some wind damage. When you consider our entire state is 60-90 miles wide and Irma is about 450 miles in diameter,  you see how the whole state can feel the impact.

Not sure if we will loose power and if so, for how long so I wanted to update you on the situation. One thing for sure, Florida has experience with hurricanes and our state has a great hurricane program in place. Over 1 million people already with no power and the storm just left the Keys. And yes, all tourist attractions are closed until Tuesday including Disney, Universal, Sea World, Legoland and the state has everything closed including supermarkets, gas stations and all businesses. Curfews are in place to prevent looting.

I have posted our latest advisory for you to see. The information is from Fox35 out of Orlando, Florida. We are about 50 miles northwest of Orlando. The east coast is getting tornadoes from the feeder bands. I will try to update you later. God is in control and it is time for people to repent in our country and turn back to God.

Are Hurricanes From God?

Many believers study the signs in the heavens including eclipses and the moon. Scripture even tells us there are signs God sends us. It has been reported the blood moons are a warning to Israel and the solar eclipse is a warning to Gentile nations. Whether you believe that or not is not the point.

We don’t hear much news from Israel unless we go to news sites from Israel. So evaluating the blood moons takes time. Additionally, we have the jubilee of Jerusalem coming up September 23, 2017. War is on the horizon for Israel because scripture tells us war is coming to Israel.

When we look at the events since the “celebrated” eclipse, we have to acknowledge there has been a shift. We see brush fires in the American west, the largest solar flare in years, Hurricane Harvey’s impact on Texas, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico City yesterday triggering a tsunami, Hurricane Irma targeting Florida’s entire state. It would not surprise me to see ice storms and blizzards this winter in America’s north and northeast.

Global warming is not the cause for these events, God may be shaking things up. When you look at the sin and filth on public television and cable, America has been feeding on ungodliness and so have other nations.

Anyone who has studied scripture knows these types of events may come from God to get people to repent. To turn from evil and wickedness to the Lord. Believers should be standing in the gap repenting and praying for their community, their state and their country. We need to be salt and light, not worldly and act like the heathen.

Many of our regular readers know we are in Florida. When you think of the storm that came up when Peter walked on the water or when the disciples woke Jesus up because they feared the storm (Matthew 14:22-31 KJV  ” And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
[23] And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
[24] But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
[25] And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
[26] And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
[27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
[28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
[29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
[30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
[31] And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”)

Notice how Jesus responded to their fear of the wind.  So when you look at hurricanes, God gives us wisdom but when circumstances prohibit your actions, like the disciples were in a boat on the water and could not get out of the way of the storm, you have to trust the Lord and have faith.

Even Paul was shipwrecked 3 times. They lost the ship in the storm but God saved them, their life. We are in the new path of Hurricane Irma in Florida. One of my first thoughts? Elijah going up to heaven in a whirlwind. How cool is that. And if we get “shipwrecked” we are in good company.

My prayer is God be merciful to the state of Florida. Yes, I have been praying and repenting for my lack of prayer for Florida over the years. Disasters bring people to God and Lord willing, the recent disasters in America bring Americans back to God. For Americans to repent and become salt and light again. Until next time.

Proverbs 10:1-25 KJV  “The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
[2] Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
[3] The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
[4] He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
[5] He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
[6] Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
[7] The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
[8] The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
[9] He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
[10] He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
[11] The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
[12] Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
[13] In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
[14] Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
[15] The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
[16] The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
[17] He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
[18] He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. [19] In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
[20] The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
[21] The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
[22] The blessing of the Lord , it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. [23] It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
[24] The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
[25] As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more : but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.”

Hate groups are not our ancestors, they are groups pushing an agenda that does not line up with scripture. Time to take a stand and get involved and ask them if they believe God and the Scriptures. Then ask, does God support vandalism?
Does God support hate?

Did You Ever Think Of This?

This will be a short post because I encourage you to search this out of scripture. Feel free to post your findings or email us at

Did you ever think of this? We are taught many things from our Bible teachers and one of those teachings is the Bride of Christ. We have been told the church is the bride of Christ and that is pictured in Ephesians 5. And yes, I see the correlation –

Ephesians 5:21-32 KJV  “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
[22] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
[23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
[24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
[25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
[26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
[27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
[28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
[29] For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
[30] For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
[32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

Clearly we see a relationship between Christ and the church. But did you ever ask or wonder – if the church is the bride of Christ, why doesn’t Paul, the apostle to the church, ever mention the church is the bride of Christ? Paul tells us of a great mystery of Christ and the church but Paul does not call the church the bride of Christ.

We know from scripture God the Father calls Israel his wife and he also gives her a divorce.

Isaiah 50:1 KJV  “Thus saith the Lord , Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.”

Jeremiah 3:8 KJV  “And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.”

So when we think of Jesus and the bride of Christ, we have been taught the church is the bride, right? We have been taught the Father married Israel and the Son, Jesus, marries the church.

When we study words like bridegroom and bride and look at wedding we find the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 22:1-14 and Matthew 25:1-13 but do you notice how both of those texts start? Jesus likens them to the kingdom of heaven. And we know the kingdom of heaven is the literal reign of Jesus on earth unlike the kingdom of God which is inside all believers.

And it is very interesting that Paul never  mentions the church as the bride of Christ. So when we investigate the bride we see new Jerusalem is prepared as a bride in Revelation 21:1,2. And if you carefully read the whole chapter, Revelation 21, you see in verse 9 an angel tells John, come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.

Revelation 21:9 KJV  “And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”

Then read what the angel shows him in verses 10-27.

If the Father married Israel the nation, could it be the Son marries Jerusalem, the city of God? Is the bride New Jerusalem populated with Revelation 21:27 KJV  “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Interesting study. So what is Paul talking about in  Ephesians 5:32 KJV
” This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

Until next time.
