Revelation 17
Revelation 17
The angel of God explains to John what some of the symbols mean.
Here is Revelation 17 –
Revelation 17:1-18 KJV ” And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
[2] With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
[3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
[4] And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
[5] And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH .
[6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
[7] And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
[8] The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
[9] And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
[10] And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
[11] And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
[12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
[13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
[14] These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
[15] And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
[16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
[17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
[18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”

Revelation 16 Quiz
Revelation 16 Quiz
Remember, Revelation 15 sets the stage for Revelation 16. In 15, seven angels in heaven have the seven last plagues. These seven angels come out of the temple of the tabernacle in heaven. And the four beasts around the throne of God, in heaven, give these seven angels seven golden vials that are full of the wrath of God.
So Revelation 16 opens with these seven angels taking their seven vials that are filled with the wrath of God, and pouring their vials out upon the earth. This is God telling mankind what is coming and God wants mankind to repent and turn to Him.
1- The first vial poured out is targeted at ________________ and why? ______________________________________
2- What was in vial one?
3- Vial two was sent to the sea and the sea became what?
4 – Vial two killed every living thing in the sea. True or False.
5 – The third vial was poured out on the rivers and the _______________.
6 – The fourth vial was poured out on the sun to scorch mankind with what?
7 – God wanted mankind to repent and turn to him after this vial. True or False.
8 – The fifth vial was poured out on the seat of the ______________.
9 – The sixth vial was poured out on the Euphrates River and dried up the river, why that river?
10 – Three unclean spirits come out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the _____________ _______________.
11 – The three unclean spirits are what?
12 – The purpose of these three unclean spirits was to gather the people on earth to a specific place. True or False.
13 – God is going to gather these people to what place?
14 – The seventh vial is poured out on the ___________.
15 – Great hail stones fall on mankind and these hail stones weighed about 125 pounds each. True or False.
Footnote: Paul tells believers, God has not appointed believers to wrath.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 KJV ” For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,”
Truly saved believers, according to God’s own promises, will not go through the Great Tribulation which is the time of God pouring out his wrath on mankind.
Until next time.

Revelation 16
Revelation 16
Some might ask, if God loves us, why does he pour out his wrath on us? Scripture clearly tells us God does love us. But God is holy, true and just. As clearly as scripture tells us God loves us, the scripture is equally clear God wants mankind to repent and turn away from their wicked sinful ways.
God sent Jesus as our passover lamb to pay mankind’s sin debt. Salvation does not mean say a prayer then go on doing what ever you want, even wickedness. There is a real heart change towards God. There is repentance, a turning away sin. Turning to God.
The seven last plagues are God’s way of getting mankind to repent. Someone once said, ‘ Deception tells man to stick it out and fight against God when God tries to get you to repent. Stupidity is when mankind thinks they can overcome God.’
Here is Revelation chapter 16.
Revelation 16:1-21 KJV ” And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
[2] And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
[3] And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man : and every living soul died in the sea.
[4] And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
[5] And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
[6] For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
[7] And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
[8] And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
[9] And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
[10] And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
[11] And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
[12] And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
[13] And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
[14] For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
[15] Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
[16] And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
[17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
[18] And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
[19] And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
[20] And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
[21] And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”

Revelation 15 Quiz
Revelation 15 Quiz
This chapter opens with John seeing something going on in heaven. He clearly can distinguish between heaven and things going on in heaven and earth and things going on in earth.
1 – John sees a group of angels in heaven appear. How many angels were in that group?
2 – This group of angels have in their hands the seven ____________ plagues.
3 – The seven last plagues are filled with the wrath of _____________.
4 – Then John sees a sea of _____________ mingled with what?
5 – Who was standing on the sea of glass?
6 – These people standing on the sea of glass overcame five things on earth. True or False.
7 – Name the four things on earth those standing on the sea of glass had to overcome on earth.
8 – God then opens the temple of the tabernacle in heaven. Yes or No.
9 – Explain the difference between the temple of the tabernacle and the tabernacle.
10 – The seven angels having the seven last plagues, came out of what, in heaven?
11 – No man was able to enter the temple until what?
12 – The seven last plagues were stored in what?
A good study is the word plague. Most people understand a plague usually brings death to a lot of people. But don’t forget, before those affected by a plague die, they suffer.
A plague can be a disease, misery, calamity, an infestation. When Moses stood before Pharaoh, God sent plagues of frogs, lice and remember the hail that turned into fire when it hit the ground?
When Revelation chapter 15 talks about the seven last plagues, remember a plague is not always a contagious disease. Until next time.

Revelation 15
Revelation 15
Revelation chapter 15 is a short 8 verses. One thing I do want to mention. Notice the distinction between the temple and the tabernacle. The temple is where the Holy of Holies and the ark of the covenant was located. The tabernacle includes the outer court.
Revelation 15 sets the stage for the seven last plagues, sent by God, to the earth.
Revelation 15:1-8 KJV ” And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
[2] And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
[3] And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
[4] Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
[5] And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
[6] And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
[7] And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
[8] And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.”

Revelation 14
Notice Revelation 13 was mainly focused on a 42 month period of time where there are two beasts mentioned, a federation of ten nations with seven heads plus, Satan the dragon and him forcing people on earth to take his mark in their right hand or in their forehead.
The federation of ten nations with seven heads can be explained using the United Nations as an example. There are about 186 nations out of about 220 total nations, who belong to the UN. But there are only five nations who are permanent members of the council; America, UK, France, Russia and China.
Revelation 14 shifts to the Lamb of God and the reapers of the earth. Jesus explained the time of the reapers in
Matthew 13:30 KJV “Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”
Matthew 13:39-43 KJV ” The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
So when reading Revelation 14, we know these reapers are God’s angels.
Here is Revelation 14.
Revelation 14:1-20 KJV ” And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
[2] And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
[3] And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
[4] These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
[5] And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
[6] And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
[7] Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
[8] And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
[9] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
[10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
[11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
[12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
[13] And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
[14] And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
[15] And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
[16] And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
[17] And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
[18] And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
[19] And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
[20] And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.”
Lord willing, we will continue next time. Until next time.

Before Revelation 13 Quiz
Before the Revelation 13 Quiz, it has been brought to my attention some questions about quiz answers and symbols mentioned in scripture. It is necessary for me to address these points.
Regarding Quiz Answers – Each chapter quiz has all the answers for the quiz, within that specific chapter. Always pray first asking God to give you understanding. Then slowly reread the chapter.
Regarding the symbols – As I have said, it is not my place to describe the symbols in scripture. Scripture defines itself. I have dedicated 34 years of my life to learning about the Lord God and studying his word and I still do not understand some things.
Look at the two witnesses in Revelation chapter 11 as an example. Many believers believe because it was Moses and Elijah that appeared to Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration, it should be Moses and Elijah as the two witnesses.
But I ask God questions, out loud. So let me ask, when Jesus walked the earth, were people still under the law? Yes or No? Clearly yes. Paul tells us the law and ordinances against us was nailed to the cross. So salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9) came after the resurrection of Christ.
God gave the law to whom? Moses. Did Moses physically die? Scripture says yes. Did Enoch physically die? No. God tells us who one of the two witnesses are, Elijah. Churches will split over these types of issues. God tells us the two witnesses are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks. The olive tree represents who? Israel and according to Revelation chapter one, the candlesticks represent the church.
Was Elijah living under the law, yes or no? Yes. He lived during the wicked reign of King Ahab and Jezebel. Did Enoch live under the law, yes or no? No. He lived before the law. Is the church (candlesticks) under the law, yes or no? No. So I personally believe Elijah pictures Israel and Enoch pictures the Gentiles who get saved during the tribulation.
You do not have to agree with me and you may have a completely different understanding of these two witnesses but I am not going to argue with anyone over that topic. Scripture says let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Now if the topic was about the blood atonement, the resurrection of Jesus, then I will take a stand on doctrinal fundamentals of the faith. But if the topic of disagreement, who the two witnesses are or if and when the rapture takes place, no, I will not argue with people over those types of issues.
You have to know in your heart what you believe and why you believe what you believe. If you are speaking from what others say without knowing why, then you are following a man and not scripture. So again I say, you have to know what you believe and why you believe it. Always be willing to listen to the reasoning of others but always check things out from scripture and ask God to show you the truth from his word.
In about 1900 a man by the name of Clarence Larkin put out many charts, books and drawings about several topics. He dedicated his books to the Lord Jesus Christ so believers have used some of his material to provide pictures or drawings of some scriptures.
I do not agree with Clarence Larkin on everything he says but God gave him a gift of drawing and helping believers understand certain scripture topics. Plus, Clarence Larkin used the RSV. Without getting into a long description about the RSV verses the King James (Authorized Version) bible, I will just say research where each bible comes from.
The Living Bible, ASV and RSV all match the Jesuit Rheim’s Bible of 1582 published by the Vatican State. Therefore, the Greek text of the AV 1611 called the “Received Text” or “Textus Receptus” will contradict the Greek text of the the Living Bible, ASV and RSV.
Understanding Clarence Larkin used the RSV you can understand why you might not agree with everything Larkin says. That is why you need to compare what others say or teach with the scriptures.
When you look at Larkin’s charts, they are very good but some of his explanations I do not agree with with, such as the two witnesses in Revelation. But I was thinking of explaining chapters in Revelation as we went through the book but God put it on my heart not to explain during the posts. That is the Holy Spirit’s job, not mine. But after we finish going through each chapter, then I can try to catalog the book to help people teach the book.
The church today ignores the book of Revelation. It is the only book out of 66 books that make up the scriptures, where God promises us a blessing if we read it and hear what it says. When was the last time you read Revelation or your church went through the book?
So next time, Lord willing, we will do the Revelation 13 Quiz. Until next time.

Revelation 13
In Revelation 13 God opens up the future of what is coming and God tells us plainly what Satan himself is going to do on earth. God also warns mankind.
Notice God also lays out a timeline. And God specifically identifies who is behind the events in this chapter as Satan himself. The dragon is Satan. Revelation 12:9 KJV ” And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
For those people who do not believe there is a wicked, evil being called Satan, they choose to not believe God.
As you read through Revelation 13, write down the people involved, the events, the warnings and the timeline.
Revelation 13:1-18 KJV ” And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
[2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
[3] And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
[4] And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
[5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
[6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
[7] And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
[8] And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
[9] If any man have an ear, let him hear.
[10] He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
[11] And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
[12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
[13] And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
[14] And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
[15] And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
[16] And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
[17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
[18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”
