Whose Son Was Adam?

I will come back to the Destiny Equals Trust post but with the Resurrection holiday, aka Easter, this weekend, I pray people will reflect on not only the sacrifice God gave, but also the victory.

When we read the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3:23 – 38 we notice the genealogy is really Joseph’s geneology. Matthew provides the geneology of Mary and Luke provides the geneology of Joseph.

What this shows us, Jesus, as God in the flesh per scripture, came from the King David’s lineage. But to me, one of the most interesting things from this geneology in Luke 3 is the last verse of that chapter.

Luke 3:37,38 KJV ” Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,
38. Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. ”

Remember, in the beginning, God created Adam and Eve and they had two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain kills Abel. So Adam and Eve have another son named Seth. The lineage up to Mary and Joseph plus Jesus goes back to Seth.

But that is not my point here. Look at the last verse, verse 38. Adam. Adam was the son of whom? Right. Adam was the son of God. That is why Paul talks about the first Adam and the second Adam in 1 Corinthians 15:42 – 58 KJV

“42. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43. It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56. The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. ”

And when people get born again aren’t we called the sons of God?  Scripture says sons and daughters,  children of God. So it is like Adam was before he sinned. What a cool study that is.

So I want to wish you all, a happy resurrection holiday. We too, as believers, will one day be delivered from this mortal body, just like Jesus.

Destiny Equals Trust

Are you directing your life or do you want to be in the place that God has written for you?

We have heard how God has a plan for each of us but can we thwart God’s plan? God gave each of us a free will. We can choose God’s plan or we can choose to go our own way.

I have always believed the scriptures are the words of God Almighty. I did not understand for years, how do we trust God’s word? What does it mean to “trust God’s word” ? After all, when God tells us believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, we believe and trust God will keep his word.

But what about when God’s word tells us something and we believe and trust his word, but we don’t see the results we expected? Do you loose confidence in God’s word?

Or maybe you chalk the perceived failure up as a learning experience. But what happens when you start stacking up failure after failure? Do you loose confidence in God and his word then?

I have always believed and trusted God’s word. And since I became a believer 36 years ago this year, I have tried to live according to God’s word, God’s teachings, the best I know how. When something would happen in my life, I would pick out key words and look those words up in scripture, using a Strong’s Concordance. I was looking to see what God had to say about my issue. God always gave me insight but I never could figure out how to apply that insight God’s way. Another words, apply the insight in a way where it changed things.

But when it came to issues in my life where my life would improve in this world, I would get stuck. I didn’t know the right answers. I know believers are “in this world but not a part of this world”.  So I would ask God, how do we live and work in this world to have a roof over our head, food in our stomach and clothes on our back, if we are not a part of this world? How do we work for people in this world and be ye separate saith the Lord? We are ambassadors for Christ. So when it comes to making money to pay our bills, how do we do that and not be a part of this world? I can’t tell you how much I have struggled with that question with God. A question I have been asking God for 36 years now.

When I would try to do things God’s way and a bill would come due, and I did not have the money to pay the bill because I was doing what God says, I would ask God, what am I doing wrong? Why isn’t your word working for me? I would quote God’s word back to him out loud saying, You say and then quote the verse. Then I would ask him, why isn’t it working for me? What am I doing wrong? I believe you and trust your word but for some reason, I am not seeing the results you say, why?

There are two things I love doing in this life on earth (besides sharing Christ and his word) – playing music on the keyboard/organ and data processing. I love “good” music hymns, Christian music and classical music.  But I also love taking information and condensing that information into an easy to understand and follow process. Data processing. But how to apply that data, that information, I am not that good at. I can show you what the information is and the process, but you have to do it. Think of a Technical Writer. A technical writer (say for a cell phone) would identify every button and function of the cell phone and write in an easy to understand way, using pictures and words, explain what the buttons and functions do and give examples. So when you were done, you would understand the buttons and functions of that cell phone. I would be processing the cell phone data.

To me, it does not matter what the data is about (Godly data a must). The data could be a title search for property or insurance inspections, or hurricane data, or technology data or learning to speak English made easy data, understanding the scriptures data, how to manuals. I love taking data/information and putting that information in to an easy to understand AND follow report.

I never understood why my testing scores, for reading comprehension, were always in the mid to upper 90 percent range until 40 plus years later. God gave me a gift.

When I look back at my “career” I thrived when music and data processing were playing a roll in my career.

But how to apply God’s word to my gifts and talents, in this world, I did not know how to do that. I have often said in this blog, that I find difficult things easier to understand than what we might say, easier or simple things. Things that many people struggle to understand, I read the instructions or search out the data/information and I can find how to understand the information. But ask how do I apply that to my life, I struggle with those parts.

That is why I often refer to things as step one, do this, step two, do this. Then when you get to the end of the steps, your results will be as the designer or manufacturer state.

Holding that thought, when I look at God’s word, I see step one, do this. Step two, do this. And when my steps are done, I ask God, why am I not getting the results you say I will get?  So either I am missing steps or I am doing something wrong. And welcome to my world.

God has just revealed this to me over the past month. And I am sure there are many people in the world who ask God, why isn’t this working for me? What am I doing wrong?

Recently, God gave me Proverbs 22 and he has had me buried in this proverb. Here is Proverbs 22 KJV.

” A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
3A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
5Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
6Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
7The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
11He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
13The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
14The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
15Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
17Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
18For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
19That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
20Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
22Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
24Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
27If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Focus with me on verses 17 – 21. And we will pick this up again next time.
Until next time.
