Time
Ecclesiastes 3:1- 11 KJV
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9¶ What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.”
We look at time mainly in the present. We look at what is happening now. When weeks, months and years pass, we have memories of a moment in time. But God lives in eternity so God sees us in our completed state.
Remember, God is Spirit and he communicates with my spirit man. My spirit man knows my future. Our soul remembers our past. And our body lives in this world in the present. So people who live in the past, in their past memories, can not see their future because they get stuck in their past experiences.
But God has already given me (and you) victory where I did not know I had a battle.
There are two kinds of time:
Minutes, days, months – these are our day to day events.
Then there is time such as seasons. We think spring, summer, autumn and winter. We know with seasons there is a period of time where we are sure of some things. An example is we know in autumn it is harvest time. We know in winter it is cold.
We also have seasons in life. We have a time when we learn the basics of life in this world. We learn to walk, talk, eat, clean ourselves, and so forth. We learn a trade to work in and provide for our needs and wants. We have a time/season where we have children. And if the Lord tarry, we all have a time when we will grow old and eventually this earthly body will die.
But what about seasons for our spirit man? After all, we live and walk in the spirit. And our spirit man does not die, only our natural body dies. What about the seasons of our spirit man?
Seasons for our spirit man are moments that change your life. They can be getting married, moving, someone put in your life to help move you in a different direction. Our job is to find out if these changes are from God or the enemy trying to knock us off our path. Need an example?
John 2:1 – 4
“And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4¶ Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.”
Jesus knew the season of his earthly ministry was not to start at that time. That is why he said mine hour is not yet come.
Do you recognize seasons in your life? How do you identify in your spirit, that God is moving you into a new season. Remember, seasons only last for a specific period of time. If you miss the season, it will be lost. You can not go back to harvest time when you are in spring.
How many times have we heard people say, if I only knew then what I know now, I would have done things differently. We need to recognize what season God has us in so we can be good stewards of every season. Examine the people God has put into your life, the place where you are living and ask God to show you what he wants you to accomplish in each season.
Until next time.
